Various calamities could be striking in any place. The calamities are causing severe damages to properties and also killing numerous people. In preventing these outcomes, government agencies are doing the necessary steps in preparing community members regarding these situations.

On the other hand, the members of communities should also do their parts. They need to prepare their disaster preparedness kits which will contain various items that could help them during these tragedies. There are a number of things that these persons will have to know about these kits.

The kit should include his personal belongings. His personal belongings could be plastic ties, moist towelettes and garbage bags which can be used in cleaning himself. He could also be carrying several pieces of light clothing for him to be changing his clothes if ever he gets wet.

They must also have items which will enable them to treat their wounds possibly caused by the disasters. Medicines for stomach problems and headaches to be lessened should also be packed so that they could be utilized at their temporary dwellings or wherever they are. Band aids should also be packed so that possible wounds and cuts can be treated.

They also have to pack chargers and extra batteries for their cell phones. This way, they can contact other government agencies or their other family members in case they get separated from each other. They can also bring whistles that they can blow in case they need help from authorities immediately. They should also have flashlights in case they have to spend the night in some dark places. They can also find wrench or pliers useful to cut those damaged utilities.

No person knows when various tragedies will be striking. In this case, he should be preparing the items beforehand. He should be preparing them during his free time when he has nothing to do. He should be putting the kit into a place or area where he could easily grab it. This way, he will not be forgetting his items when a disaster happens.

Other individuals are saying that these things are expensive and cost a lot. In that case, he could be saving money if he will buying his items from a sale. In a sale, he will be obtaining them in lesser amounts than the original purchase prices. Usually, these prices will be rising up within the duration of a calamity.

It is recommended that they pack foods that are not perishable so that they will not spoil and the individuals can still eat them. They should bring foods that they can consume for approximately three days to seven days. However, they should also bring those that are rich in vitamins and minerals. This way, they can stay strong as these events usually will drain their energies out.

He should also be bringing enough water with him. A person should have one gallon per day. However, if he needs to extend his stay in his temporary shelter, he should be sterilizing it, instead. For this, he should be aware of the steps on how to do it and what materials he needs so that he will be applying his knowledge when a real situation arise.
