By Kristen Baird

The potent herbal tonic known as Swedish Bitters was originally formulated in the 16th century by a physician by the name of Paracelsus, and later perfected by advocates Dr. Klaus Samst, a 19th century Swedish doctor and researcher, and modern-day Austrian herbalist Maria Treben. Its use is associated with improved longevity, energy levels, immunity, and healing from a wide range of illnesses. Although not pleasant-tasting as the name suggests, the benefits Swedish Bitters provide have made it a popular choice for those seeking a natural remedy.
