Lukewarm water on a small basin will do where you will soak your affected foot. This will clean it up and will avoid infection. You can wash it twice a day but you need to let it dry for most of the time. In cleaning, use a mild soap and tap water will do.

It is also okay to take pain relievers especially if you need to go out and work. If there are no improvements in three to four days, it is time to consult the doctor as it may be infected. Depending on the situation, the treatments could vary from minor dressing of the ingrown to surgical procedures.

Sometimes a doctor may recommend you to have a surgery to make your foot well again. It is better to try to heal it with home remedies or to see the doctor immediately once an ingrown develops. If you got it from the salon you went to, you need to go there and complain. They might shoulder the expenses for the treatment.
