An Overview Of Ibogaine Detox Treatment For Drug Addiction

By Donald Wright

For several years, drug addiction has been a leading cause of deaths of many adults and teenagers in various states. The addiction of opiates from illegal ones such as heroin, cocaine to medically prescribed ones like oxycodone, over-dependence on them requires immediate treatment lest something bad happens to the user. Ibogaine Detox Treatment has been applied to help reduce these situations to a minimum.

The extraction of these substance is gotten from the native plant known as Iboga. It is mostly extracted from the roots and barks of the plant and administered to the patient in form of a pill. The substance works to reset the opiate receptors in the brain, allowing the drugs to be flashed off from the body and mind of the person. By resetting the receptors in the brain, the patient will be able to lose the interest in the drug.

In as much as the use of this chemical is still under a lot of scrutiny, it has advantage over other prolonged methods such as continuous therapy has shown that it can help an individual and change his or her life quicker. However, the administering of these substance should be done in the presence of a qualified medical staff so as to allow proper monitoring of the vitals of the patient.

However, not everyone can use this substance. Before one gets to take the chemical, a full checkup should be done to determine if he or she is a candidate for it. People who have experienced strokes, pregnant, vascular diseases or any cardiac condition are not allowed to use it due to its effects on their health.

The chemical works in three stages after the administering has been done. In the first stage, the patient will be in a dreamlike state, experiencing visions and thoughts of what and how the person got into the addiction state. The remembering of the past events help the patient to deal with the events that lead to the addiction. This phase is known as Awakened Dream or Acute phase.

Upon completion of the first stage the patient goes to the next stage which involves introspection. Here the individual will be more reflective of what he or she has experienced during the first stage. At this point, having a specialist to help the individual understand what he or she has seen is helpful and will help in recovery. This step may render the person to be weak and may have to spend some hours in bed.

The third stage is where the patient gets back to normal. The effects of the Ibogaine begin to lessen as the individual will now learn how to accept all that he or she has seen and lean how to properly live. It is common for some to have a reduced number of sleeping hours but with the help of a specialist, they can embark on living a cleaner and healthier life without the drugs.

After going through these stages, the person is advised to sign up from therapy sessions. This will help the individual to get more professional advice on proper ways of living and prevent a relapse. The chances of a relapse are not completely off the table hence the more reason why the person should be attending therapy sessions.
