Another popular natural solution for treating cough is peppermint leaves. The menthol in this substance soothes the throat while also reducing congestion. You can benefit by inhaling vapors from peppermint steam bath. You can achieve this by adding 3 or 4 drops of peppermint oil to hot water (about 150 milliliters). You can also drink peppermint tea.

Thyme is another effective remedy for most respiratory illnesses. The main benefits are derived from thyme leaves. When mixed with ivy it can suppress coughing. To cure a cough, add about two teaspoons of dried and crushed thyme leaves in hot water.
