Procedure For Using A Pelvic Pain Cushion

By James Scott

Cramping around the groin can be so uncomfortable making a person unable to go about his daily activities. The discomfort can be caused by either falling, tumors, fractures, giving birth or dislocations. When the cramps become severe, pelvic pain cushion can work well to reduce the pangs. More so, the pillow is designed in a way that it reduces pressure around the pelvic region.

You are advised to always carry the pillow with you wherever you go. This treatment can only be effective if you use the pillow anywhere you are required to sit down, for instance at home, car, at work, etc. You may decide to buy alternative bumpers to use at work or while in the car. Alternatively, you can purchase one bumper that you can carry everywhere but keep in mind that one buffer may not be convenient for all the scenarios.

The seats which you use should have backs so that they can support you when you are sitting down for long hours. You should place the bumper on the seat to provide extra support. The purpose of the bumper is to raise your lap slightly to make you sit with a good posture. Hence, for you to be able to sit up straight, ensure that your seats have a back.

Avoid placing the bumpers on a chair that has a pillow. This is because the extra pillow will make you not to sit evenly hence you will make the pressure not to be evenly spread. This can add more pain to your pelvis. Thus it should be avoided. More so, when placing the buffer on the seat, slant it slightly for extra support.

You can decide to add either hot packs or ice packs for more relief. This can help you in cold or hot therapy. However, you should consult your doctor whether the hot or ice packs will be beneficial before using them. Also, make sure that the pillows are clean at all times for hygiene purposes.

If you feel that the pillow you have is not working effectively, make a point of acquiring a new buffer. This is because the buffer needs to be firm enough to support the weight of your back when you sit. Hence, select buffers that are made of foam that is denser to give you the support that you need.

Buying a good bumper can prove to be a bit difficult thus you should ask your physician for assistance. There are many designs of the pillows for different pressure reliefs. For the groin or pelvis discomfort, the recommended designs are both the U-shaped and the V-shaped. There are also some bumpers with the shape of a doughnut, but they do not work well with groin pain.

These pillows can be found in local pharmacies or stores that supply surgical items. They are however a bit expensive thus one should have enough money to acquire them. Alternatively, you may decide to search them online as they can be cheaper compared to the physical stores. Ensure that you, however, select the one that will be most suitable for you.
